Since then, we\u2019ve seen the early January patch yanked because it tanked AMD machines. Then, after the first patch was reinstated, we got two more cumulative updates. In the past three weeks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I guess that\u2019s what Microsoft now means by \u201cCurrent Branch for Business\u201d and\/or \u201cSemi-Annual Channel.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The latest salvo in the story arrived today with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/help\/4058258\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">KB 4058258<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which brings Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, version 1709, to build 16299.214. It\u2019s headed out the Windows Automatic Update chute right now.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Along with the 1709 cumulative update, we\u2019re getting another \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/answers.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windows\/forum\/windows_10-security\/what-is-this-waasmedic-and-why-it-required-to\/e5e55a95-d5bb-4bf4-a7ce-4783df371de4\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">WaaSMedic<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d Remediation Shell, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/help\/4074608\/servicing-stack-update-for-windows-10-version-1709-january-30-2018\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">KB 4074608<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u2014 a Servicing Stack update released yesterday that, per <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.askwoody.com\/forums\/topic\/another-complaint-about-kb-4023057\/#post-163295\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">@abbodi86 on AskWoody<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fixes and resets update-related parts to their \u201csupported\u201d configuration. It restores registry settings, services statuses, schedule tasks, it clears out disk space, and launches UpdateAssistant.exe if installed. Mainly it\u2019s meant to pave the way to receive the latest updates, whether quality updates, or feature update to latest Windows 10 version<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s an MSI package not a regular update, doesn\u2019t require a reboot. It has more than 12 releases so far. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.askwoody.com\/forums\/topic\/another-complaint-about-kb-4023057\/#post-163514\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">goes on to say<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Servicing Stack updates are bundled with cumulative updates in version 1709. You may notice that the 1709 SSU has a distinguished version (i.e. 16299.122.1.0), not the generic version like other updates before (i.e. 10.0.1.2). <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Servicing Stack updates won\u2019t be listed in Windows Update history, but you can find it in Installed Updates<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here\u2019s this month\u2019s hall of patching shame:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There\u2019s also a newly updated KB article, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/help\/4073757\/protect-your-windows-devices-against-spectre-meltdown\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">KB 4073757<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, that covers many details with Windows, Meltdown and Spectre.
