It allowed access to photos, videos, device IDs, audio recordings, and contacts, potentially tracking a victim's location and listening to their conversations through the microphone. It's an unusual break-in for Apple's locked-down ecosystem, but it's a reminder to stay vigilant no matter how safe you think your devices are.

Furniture juggernaut Ikea and audio powerhouse Sonos have teamed up to make speaker-furniture combos for all. The partnership kicks off with a $99 bookshelf-speaker combo-thing that can hold up to 6.6 pounds and is the cheapest Sonos audio product you can buy. There will also be a speaker-lamp mashup that will run you $179.

Northern White Rhinos have become extinct in the wild, and only two females remain in captivity. But scientists think the answer to saving the species could be a snakelike artificial insemination bot. To be fair, these rhinos will need a lot more than a cervix-navigating robot to survive. But it's a start.

While the internet and social media come in all kinds of languages, the code that constructs them doesn't. The code behind the web in all of its many forms is mostly written in English. Major languages like Mandarin, Spanish, Hindi, and Arabic still aren't widespread as coding languages, putting non-English speakers at a massive disadvantage when it comes to lucrative tech jobs.

You already know you need a solid pair of shoes for your sweat seshes, but a good pair of socks can be just as much of a difference-maker. We put together our favorites.

Two hackers have developed a tool that can hijack a Jeep over the internet. WIRED senior writer Andy Greenberg takes the SUV for a spin on the highway while the hackers attack it from miles away.

https://www.wired.com/category/security/feed/

Credit to Author: Alex Baker-Whitcomb| Date: Mon, 08 Apr 2019 22:22:50 +0000

Catch up on the most important news today in 2 minutes or less.

[10378,10607
714
post-15052","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-security","category-wired","tag-security
["GET
