The report has served as a Rorschach test for the American public over the last month and a half. President Donald Trump and his supporters have clung to the fact that Mueller found no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, while the President's opponents have fixated on the fact that the report lists numerous instances in which the President appeared to obstruct justice. The report states clearly that while it doesn't conclude that the President committed a crime, "it also does not exonerate him."

The public response was made all the more muddy by Attorney General William Barr's initial four-page summary of the report, which appeared to downplay the special counsel's findings around obstruction of justice. In a letter to Barr, Mueller himself wrote that the summary “did not fully capture the context, nature, and substance” of his office’s work.

WIRED contributing editor Garrett M. Graff, who covers special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia probe, authored the magazine's June cover story about Mueller's time in Vietnam, and wrote "The Threat Matrix: Inside Robert Mueller's FBI and the War on Global Terror." Graff breaks down the investigation's status, the big outstanding questions, and where the investigation is likely to go after the midterm election.

https://www.wired.com/category/security/feed/

Credit to Author: Issie Lapowsky| Date: Wed, 29 May 2019 14:50:24 +0000

Special counsel Robert Mueller is making his first public remarks since the release of his report in April.

[10378,10607
714,21465
post-15419","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-security","category-wired","tag-security","tag-security-national-security
["GET
