Building Mersin City Hospital into a state-of-the-art facility<\/h4>\n

Schneider Electric certified EcoXpert\"\u2122\" partner, Mas Otomasyon\u2014a system integrator with expertise in BMS, KNX, security, and energy automation solutions\u2014is helping forge new territory in healthcare with their work for Mersin City Hospital<\/a> in Turkey.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Located in the Korukent district of Toroslar (a provincial district in Mersin), this healthcare facility is not only one of the largest in Turkey, it\u2019s also the first such facility built using the country\u2019s Public Private Partnership (PPP) finance model. In addition, it is an award-winning example of <\/span>outstanding excellence as a Digital Hospital. Upon completion of the project, HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society) graded Mersin City Hospital as EMRAM Stage 6, reflecting the hospital\u2019s significant commitment to and investment in healthcare IT, enabling almost completely automated and paperless medical records. The project also earned recognition as the \u201cBest PPP Project\u201d from EMEA Finance magazine.<\/span><\/p>\n

Just as important as these industry accolades, Mersin City Hospital has successfully created a state-of-the-art facility that ensures patient safety and comfort, delivers optimal operational efficiency, drives sustainability, and also provides superior levels of physical and cyber security. <\/span>And they accomplished all of this in record time, completing the project a year ahead of schedule. <\/span>The 1,300-bed campus consists of three hospital buildings, which house a variety of core treatment facilities alongside specialties such as women\u2019s health, pediatric, and oncology.<\/span><\/p>\n

EcoXpert’s expertise<\/h4>\n

To build a modern and IoT-enabled, connected hospital<\/a>, the company behind the project\u2014CCN Holding\u2014chose to partner with Schneider Electric and Mas Otomasyon <\/span>based on their level of experience and ability to deliver a seamless operation.<\/span> \u201cWith a hospital of this size and power, operations management is of critical importance,\u201d said Timur Balta, Health General Manager of CCN Holding. \u201cWith Schneider Electric\u2019s EcoStruxure\"\u2122\" for Healthcare solution, we were able to establish three different sources of power, and the power management and monitoring software ensures power reliability and continuity even in the worst case scenario.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

On the implementation side, Mas Otomasyon was pleased to take advantage of partnering with Schneider Electric. \u201cWe had the opportunity to work with Schneider Electric staff who had great expertise working with hospitals in Turkey and around the world,\u201d said \u00d6zkan \u00c7akir, Project Coordinator. \u201cThe partnership between Schneider Electric and us helped the hospital\u2019s team adapt to changes quickly and easily, thanks to IP-based solutions and an IP cabling platform.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The technology behind the award-winning project<\/h4>\n

Using advanced IoT-enabled architecture, EcoStruxure for Healthcare is able to improve energy efficiency and streamline operations management without compromising either the safety or comfort of patients, visitors, or staff. By blending three domains of expertise\u2014Power, Building, and IT\u2014EcoStruxure for Healthcare delivers tangible benefits across the entire hospital ecosystem, from patients and doctors to the operations team and the executive board. <\/span><\/p>\n

Mas Otomasyon integrated MV-LV energy automation, lighting, and mechanical automation systems.<\/span> They also helped ensure <\/span>the system\u2019s ability to address a wide variety of security concerns,<\/span> which were a deciding factor in CCN\u2019s decision to implement the EcoStruxure for Healthcare solution. <\/span>The final solution included features to monitor and control the card-entrance system, CCTV, and low-current systems via building management<\/a> software. <\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to enhancing the patient experience, EcoStruxure for Healthcare also gave Mersin City Hospital the ability to gain significant energy consumption savings of up to 25%. <\/span><\/p>\n
