Mile marker number 26 is for Nixon."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Credit to Author: Employee Voices| Date: Tue, 10 Sep 2019 13:00:08 +0000<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Written by guest blogger Matt Carrara \u2013 Schneider Electric, Vice President of Process Analyzers and Instrumentation <\/em><\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve heard about six degrees of separation and the butterfly effect.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t know it then, but as a boy growing up outside of Boston regularly going to Red Sox games, I was being exposed to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute\u2019s fundraising organization, The Jimmy Fund. For decades, owners and players have participated in making the Red Sox\/Jimmy Fund partnership the longest and most successful relationship between a team and a charity in the history of professional sports.<\/p>\n<p>See, I didn\u2019t know I\u2019d become the future Vice President of Process Analyzers and Instrumentation for Schneider Electric, a company just named one of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/boston\/news\/2019\/07\/18\/bbj-names-the-105-most-charitable-companies-in.html#g\/457143\/1\">Boston Business Journal\u2019s 2019 Top Charitable Contributors in Massachusetts<\/a>.\u00a0 Nor could I have anticipated how my days adorned in red and white,baseball glove in hand, hopeful to catch a foul ball would ultimately be the connection to my passion for supporting childhood cancer research.\u00a0 But it did, and here we are now.<\/p>\n<h4>The Jimmy Fund Walk<\/h4>\n<p>When I was asked to be the Executive Sponsor for Team Schneider Electric for the 2019 Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk, I was honored.\u00a0 Like far too many of us, cancer isn\u2019t six degrees of separation for me.\u00a0 It\u2019s affected family members, friends and colleagues.\u00a0 These same colleagues from the Boston, Andover, West Kingston and Foxboro campuses have come together to support this common cause.\u00a0 Through local office activities like raffles, lunch n\u2019 learns and dunk tank fun, every little bit supports the overall $100K Team Schneider Electric goal.\u00a0 More than twenty people have joined our team to walk on September 22<sup>nd<\/sup> \u2013 and everyone is welcome to join!<\/p>\n<p>I invite you to grab a box of tissue and take a look at the brave faces of the children and adults fighting cancer.\u00a0 Each has been named a \u201cHero\u201d by the Jimmy Fund.\u00a0 Schneider Electric\u2019s Hero is Nixon, you\u2019ll see that mile marker number 26 is for this brave seven-year-old whose mother is part of the Schneider Electric family.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/353821811\">Watch the video<\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re not from Boston and you won\u2019t be able to join the team \u2013 how can you show your support?\u00a0 Donate to one of the team members!\u00a0 This is completely voluntary and you can donate <a href=\"https:\/\/danafarber.jimmyfund.org\/site\/TR\/JimmyFundWalk\/JimmyFundWalk?pg=team&amp;fr_id=1160&amp;team_id=2776\">here<\/a>.\u00a0 \u00a0Walk with us!
