Throughout the interview below, we are able to explore the opportunities, flexibility and support that Iliane is able to achieve\u00a0through her job.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"ContentPlaceHolder1_ContentPlaceHolder2_body\">\n<h3><strong>Embracing exciting\u00a0training\u00a0opportunities\u00a0and\u00a0developing her skills<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Everyday work for Iliane focuses on implementing smooth delivery of\u00a0Schneider Electric\u2019s\u00a0electrical equipment and services, while she is also currently finishing her Customer Project Management Associate training and planning to work towards her Customer Project Management certification.<\/p>\n<p>Iliane is also in the midst of a big project (the CLN3: data center) and is managing some small transactional projects. She knows that there are always bigger projects to come, so she makes the most of every opportunity to enhance her skills and knowledge.<\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-60902\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.se.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/IlianePerdu2-e1570713615995.jpg\" alt=\"flexible working\" width=\"388\" height=\"517\" \/> <\/p>\n<h3><strong>Every day is different and support is key for Iliane<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>When asked what interests her most about her role, Iliane replies \u201cEvery day is different and I like the multidisciplinary element of tasks: technical, management, commercial, organization and schedule \u2013 my work is never boring. I enjoy achieving things and seeing that I have made a positive impact.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Iliane also appreciates the support she receives from Schneider Electric. \u201cI first started as a contractor with a recruitment agency and then Schneider Electric offered me a permanent position,\u201d she explains. \u201cThe company trusts me to be in charge of interesting projects and currently supports me through training in Project Management.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe\u00a0team is supportive\u00a0globally, but the most supportive people to me personally are my line managers: Eoin and Brian,\u201d Iliane continues. \u201cBrian has been my guide and he always responds to my ideas, queries and provides clear explanations even when we disagree. He always considers my opinion, which is important as a <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.se.com\/life-at-schneider-electric\/2019\/09\/13\/a-woman-in-tech-shares-her-experience-with-young-girls-about-being-an-engineer\/\">woman engineer<\/a> in a male environment. Eoin as my direct line manager supports me through training certification and building my competencies.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Trusted to get the job done in her own way<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.se.com\/life-at-schneider-electric\/2019\/09\/29\/flexible-work-at-schneider-electric\/\"> flexible and supportive working<\/a>\u00a0culture at Schneider also works well for Iliane, combined with the trust that her managers place in her abilities. \u201cMy manager allows me to <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.se.com\/life-at-schneider-electric\/2019\/09\/20\/why-working-at-schneider-electric-is-the-perfect-match\/\">work from home<\/a> when I request to and that is really appreciated. He of course keeps track of what work is being completed but he focuses on the output and quality, he doesn\u2019t track my hours in terms of how long he can see me at my desk.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her manager\u2019s trust in her competence and ability to set her own work structure make Iliane\u2019s job truly work for her. This, combined with a path for career progression and transparent\u00a0culture, motivates Iliane to remain with Schneider Electric.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Encouraging further women at Schneider<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Iliane would like to see more women\u00a0working in her industry and believes this can be achieved through:\u00a0promoting roles\u00a0fairly based on skills and talent, management by example, promoting and supporting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wherewomenwork.com\/Career\/621\/schneiderelectric-global-family-policy\">parental leave<\/a>, offering help with childcare, and forbidding meetings after 5pm. \u201cNot only women should pay the career progression cost of parenting,\u201d she adds.<\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-60903\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.se.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/IlianePerdu1-e1570713721440.jpg\" alt=\"supportive working\" width=\"395\" height=\"527\" \/> <\/div>\n<p>Iliane also advises further women \u201cnot to be afraid or hesitate to ask for feedback, advice, support training and promotions. Nothing is handed to you, you need to create your own career\u201d. And if she could give one piece of advice to her younger self it is \u201cbe efficient, and use the time you have the best way, be smart and network\u201d.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Ensuring great well being and enjoying free time<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Iliane describes herself as honest, efficient and careful and she applies these qualities to her work as well as her home life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo me, our industry makes us implicit in all of the subjects that have an impact on our daily lives. What I really like is to be part of world change,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n<p>When I have time away from work my holidays are very important to me. I need to be always feel occupied and, when I am not, I am usually organizing my next weekend or trip. Her day to day tasks consist of coordination of supply chain, documentation and quality control, project planning and more.
