{"id":16919,"date":"2019-11-18T10:52:31","date_gmt":"2019-11-18T18:52:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.palada.net\/index.php\/2019\/11\/18\/news-10656\/"},"modified":"2019-11-18T10:52:31","modified_gmt":"2019-11-18T18:52:31","slug":"news-10656","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.palada.net\/index.php\/2019\/11\/18\/news-10656\/","title":{"rendered":"VB2019 paper: Domestic Kitten: an Iranian surveillance program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In September last year, researchers at <em>Check Point<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/research.checkpoint.com\/domestic-kitten-an-iranian-surveillance-operation\/\" target=\"_blank\"> uncovered<\/a> an Iranian operation they named &#8216;Domestic Kitten&#8217; and that used <em>Android<\/em> apps for targeted surveillance.<\/p>\n<p>Active since 2016, the operation continued after this discovery with new malware found during the course of 2019. In a paper presented at VB2019 in London, <em>Check Point<\/em> researchers Aseel Kayal and Lotem Finkelstein analysed the campaign and noted that, despite it not being particularly advanced, it managed to steal some highly sensitive information.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.virusbulletin.com\/files\/6215\/7183\/9441\/fig12.PNG\" alt=\"fig12.PNG\" width=\"687\" height=\"365\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Today we publish Aseel and Lotem&#8217;s paper in both <a title=\"VB2019 paper: Domestic Kitten: an Iranian surveillance program\" href=\"https:\/\/www.virusbulletin.com\/virusbulletin\/2019\/11\/vb2019-paper-domestic-kitten-iranian-surveillance-program\/\">HTML<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.virusbulletin.com\/uploads\/pdf\/magazine\/2019\/VB2019-Kayal-Finkelstein.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">PDF <\/a>format.
