{"id":20206,"date":"2022-09-27T16:10:35","date_gmt":"2022-09-28T00:10:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.palada.net\/index.php\/2022\/09\/27\/news-13939\/"},"modified":"2022-09-27T16:10:35","modified_gmt":"2022-09-28T00:10:35","slug":"news-13939","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.palada.net\/index.php\/2022\/09\/27\/news-13939\/","title":{"rendered":"Flaw in some ManageEngine apps is being actively exploited, says CISA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CISA (the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency) recently added&nbsp;<strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/nvd.nist.gov\/vuln\/detail\/CVE-2022-35405\" target=\"_blank\">CVE-2022-35405&mdash;<\/a><\/strong>a remote code execution(RCE) vulnerability affecting Zoho ManageEngine PAM360 (versions 5500 and earlier), Password Manager Pro (versions 12100 and earlier), and Access Manager Plus (versions 4302 and earlier)&mdash;to its&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cisa.gov\/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog\" target=\"_blank\">Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) Catalog<\/a>, a list of known CVEs that carry significant risk to the federal enterprise.&nbsp;Doing this&nbsp;forces all Federal Civilian Executive Branch Agencies (FCEB) to patch this bug.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bleepingcomputer.com\/news\/security\/cisa-warns-of-critical-manageengine-rce-bug-used-in-attacks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">According to BleepingComputer<\/a>, federal agencies that may be affected by CVE-2022-35405 have until October 13 to ensure they&#8217;re patched and their networks are protected from attacks leveraging this vulnerability.<\/p>\n<p>CVE-2022-35405 is a critical vulnerability. When exploited, attackers can execute potentially malicious code on affected installations of ManageEngine software&mdash;without authentication for Password Manager Pro and PAM360, and with authentication for Access Manager Plus.<\/p>\n<p>Researcher Vinicius Pereira <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bigous.me\/2022\/09\/06\/CVE-2022-35405.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">first flagged<\/a>&nbsp;this vulnerability in June 2022. Since then, several&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/xz.aliyun.com\/t\/11578\" target=\"_blank\">PoCs (proofs-of-concepts)<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/rapid7\/metasploit-framework\/pull\/16852\" target=\"_blank\">a Metasploit module<\/a>&nbsp;for it have been made public.<\/p>\n<p>ManageEngine&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.manageengine.com\/products\/passwordmanagerpro\/advisory\/cve-2022-35405.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&#8220;strongly recommends&#8221;<\/a>&nbsp;that its clients upgrade their affected software as soon as possible.
