The regular program starts on Wednesday and runs through Friday, highlighting the latest offerings in the Google Cloud.

This is the third iteration of the conference and as with the Google Cloud itself, the show is going to be bigger and better than ever.

If you’re not onsite in San Francisco this week, check out a Next Extended event where you can watch the live streams with a group for a shared experience. For those of you attending, here are some tips to get the most out of the show.

Bootcamps

There are a number of really high quality bootcamps running on today and Tuesday. These camps include a ton of demos and lots of hands-on coding led by Googlers who are experts in the subject matter.

There are six camps covering some of the most common challenges and use cases in the Google Cloud; Cloud ML, BigQuery, IoT, Security, Windows on GCP, and Kubernetes.

Camps like these are a great way to jumpstart your learning.

Training and certification is a big push for Google this year at Next. In addition to being able to sit for an exam during the show ( Cloud Architect or Data Engineer ), Codelabs (hands-on, self-paced tutorials) are running all day Wednesday—Friday.

Aim for a bootcamp or certification if you can but make sure you stop by the Codelab no matter what. It’s a great opportunity to get practical experience with Google Cloud technologies.

Talks

As you’d expect, there’s an absurd amount of really interesting sessions. Google has implemented a reservation system this year, so login and start building your schedule now. There’s so much on offer, you’ll probably feel like you’re missing out on something. The good news here is that Google tends to publish talks after the event. I expect the same this year.

The sessions are divided among six key themes:

Application Development

Big Data & Machine Learning

Collaboration & Productivity

Connected Business Platforms

Infrastructure & Operations

Mobility & Devices

There’s something for every theme in almost every time slot so you easily spend the entire conference just learning about one topic. But you’d be selling yourself short. Given the depth of the content offered, you should take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about the areas of the Google Cloud that your aren’t as familiar with.

By going outside of your comfort area, you might find a solution to a problem you’ve been grappling with.

Get Building

A conference like Next generates a lot of energy and excitement. It’s hard not to get caught up when you’re surrounded a few thousand people sharing ideas on what to build, how to build it, and what’s possible when you start combined advanced web services.

As part of the price of admission to Next, every pass comes with at least $300 in GCP credits. That’s enough to take some of your existing or new ideas are get the ball rolling.

There’s no excuse not to start building something.

In fact, if you can get started during the conference, it will provide a guide to help you narrow down the session you want to attend, the Codelabs you want to complete, and something to discuss when you meet others in the halls.

Next is an exciting, developer focused conference. Whether you’re onsite or attending a Next Extended session, there’s something for everyone.

Trend Micro will be there in booth C11. Come on by and discuss the latest in hybrid cloud security . If you want a chance to try out our Deep Security platform on Google Cloud, check out our newly launched Test Drive . It’s a self-paced, hands-on lab that shows how you can easily integrate security into your cloud workflow.

http://feeds.trendmicro.com/TrendMicroSimplySecurity

Credit to Author: Mark Nunnikhoven (Vice President, Cloud Research)| Date: Mon, 06 Mar 2017 13:00:44 +0000

Google’s Next 2017 conference kicks off today with a series of bootcamps.
