We also provided some tips on how to <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.malwarebytes.com\/101\/2017\/07\/7-tips-to-stay-cyber-safe-this-summer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">stay cyber safe this summer<\/a>. We also saw how the <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.malwarebytes.com\/cybercrime\/2017\/07\/terror-ek-actor-experiments-with-url-shortener-fraud\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Terror exploit kit started dabbling in ad fraud<\/a>, more specifically URL shortener fraud. And last but not least, we saw the <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.malwarebytes.com\/puppum\/2017\/07\/adware-the-series-the-final-tools-section\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">adware series come to an end with a tools section<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Other security related news:<\/p>\n<h1>General<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bleepingcomputer.com\/news\/government\/china-forces-muslim-minority-to-install-spyware-on-their-phones\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chinese authorities in the province of Xinjiang are forcing locals of the Uyghur Muslim minority to install an app<\/a> on their phones that will allow the government to scan their device for &#8220;terrorist propaganda\u201d.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/motherboard.vice.com\/en_us\/article\/zmv535\/alleged-dark-web-kingpin-doxed-himself-with-his-personal-hotmail-address\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">How the FBI found the Alpha Bay operator<\/a> is a typical \u201cwe all make mistakes\u201d but this one was rather painful.<\/li>\n<li>Some people have no shame, as demonstrated by a <a href=\"A%20Russian%20man%20who%20U.S.%20prosecutors%20say%20played%20a%20role%20in%20developing%20the%20sophisticated%20malware%20known%20as%20%22Citadel%22%20used%20to%20steal%20personal%20financial%20information%20from%20thousands%20of%20computers%20worldwide%20was%20sentenced%20on%20Wednesday%20to%20five%20years%20in%20prison.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">hacker that abused the Twitter account of Chester Bennington\u2019s wife<\/a> to start some nasty rumors about the singers\u2019 untimely death.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/fortune.com\/2017\/07\/19\/russian-prison-sentence-malware\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">A Russian man who U.S. prosecutors say played a role in developing the sophisticated malware known as &#8220;Citadel&#8221; used to steal personal financial information from thousands of computers worldwide was sentenced on Wednesday to five years in prison<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cybersecurity-review.com\/news-july-2017\/quantum-computing-would-make-todays-encryption-obsolete\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Quantum computing would make today\u2019s encryption obsolete<\/a>. Quantum computing offers processing power so vast it may soon make today\u2019s supercomputers look old and slow.
