A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Windows10\/comments\/6wq7zv\/kb4033637\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Reddit thread<\/a> credits Microsoft as saying it\u2019s a July security patch for Flash. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.askwoody.com\/forums\/topic\/undocumented-kb-4033637-pushed-onto-win10-1607-machines\/#post-131077\" rel=\"nofollow\">Abbodi86 on AskWoody<\/a> has a different view: it\u2019s an update to the Compatibility Appraiser, which is the software that scans a PC to see whether it\u2019s ready to move to the next version. G\u00fcnter Born <a href=\"https:\/\/borncity.com\/win\/2017\/08\/29\/windows-10-v1607-mysterious-update-kb4033637\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">concurs with Abbodi86<\/a>. (I wonder if it\u2019s a precursor to the Fall Creators Update.) There\u2019s no explanation about why Microsoft refuses to document it, or talk about it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Win10 1507 and 1511<\/strong> \u2013 KB 4033631, similarly undocumented and similarly pushed thru Auto Update, is also likely an update to the Compatibility Appraiser.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Win10 1607<\/strong> \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.computerworld.com\/article\/3220499\/microsoft-windows\/microsoft-releases-kb-4039396-its-fourth-win10-1607-update-this-month.html\">KB 4039396<\/a>, seems to be all right, although it\u2019s too early to say for sure since it was just released Aug. 29. It\u2019s a manually-applied cumulative update for 1607, incorporating August\u2019s KB 4038220, KB 4034658 (still offered through Auto Update, wipes out Update History, redlines servers) \u00a0and KB 4034661.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Win7\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; KB 4034664, KB 4034679, KB 4034670 all have an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.askwoody.com\/2017\/patch-tuesday-win7-patches-kb-4034664-4034679-causing-problems-with-multiple-screens\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">acknowledged problem<\/a>\u00a0with garbling data on a second screen on multi-screen systems. Microsoft issued a patch for the screen problem,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.computerworld.com\/article\/3220665\/microsoft-windows\/microsoft-yanks-buggy-patch-of-a-buggy-patch-kb-4039884.html\">KB 4039884<\/a>, but then pulled the patch and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.askwoody.com\/2017\/buggy-kb-4039884-win7-patch-of-a-patch-returns-with-no-explanation\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">re-released it<\/a>, without any explanation or warning.\u00a0The original Monthly Rollup, KB 4034664, has two additional <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/help\/4034664\/windows-7-sp1-windows-server-2008-r2-sp1-update-kb4034664\" rel=\"nofollow\">acknowledged problems<\/a>, an old problem with LDAP referral chasing and a crash in WordPad. KB 4034664 is still being pushed via Automatic Update.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Server 2016<\/strong> \u2013 KB 4039396, <strong>Server 2012 R2<\/strong> \u2013 KB 4039871, <strong>Server 2012<\/strong> \u2013 KB 4039873, <strong>WSUS 3.0 SP2<\/strong> \u2013 KB 4039929 \u2013 all are supposed to fix the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.technet.microsoft.com\/configurationmgr\/2017\/08\/18\/high-cpuhigh-memory-in-wsus-following-update-tuesdays\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">server redlining problem<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Word 2016, Outlook 2016<\/strong> \u2013 The Word 2016 patch <a href=\"https:\/\/www.computerworld.com\/article\/3219655\/microsoft-windows\/word-outlook-merged-cell-problem-arises-after-install-of-patch-kb-3213656.html\">KB 3213656<\/a> causes merged cells to appear garbled and unresponsive. The bug has not been acknowledged by Microsoft, and the patch is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/downloads\/details.aspx?familyid=05e68a7a-83ca-40c2-8cb6-b2aea4d37919\" rel=\"nofollow\">still available<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Office 2016<\/strong> \u2014 The non-security patch KB 4011051 had a bug that left hyperlinks in Excel 2016 non-functional.
