It&#8217;s not clear if <i> Blue Planet II<\/i> focuses on any theme in particular. But the series will probably touch on issues like climate change, overfishing, and other human behaviors that imperil our oceans.<\/p>\n<p> A <a href=\"https:\/\/gizmodo.com\/the-sixth-mass-extinction-will-be-like-nothing-in-earth-1786598392\" target=\"_blank\">study<\/a> published in the journal <i> Science<\/i> last year found that humans are the dominant threat to marine species\u2014causing catastrophic losses that impact the largest to smallest creatures. We&#8217;re seeing species <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/2017\/apr\/29\/bid-to-save-vaquita-porpoise-from-extinction-trained-dolphins\" target=\"_blank\">on the edge<\/a> of extinction, and ecosystems <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/2017\/may\/29\/coral-bleaching-on-great-barrier-reef-worse-than-expected-surveys-show\" target=\"_blank\">dying off<\/a> on a colossal scale. Shows like <i> Blue Planet II<\/i> aren&#8217;t a panacea for these crises, but they encourage people to give a shit. <\/p>\n<p> BBC says this season <a href=\"http:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/arts-entertainment\/tv\/news\/blue-planet-2-trailer-bbc-radiohead-hans-zimmer-ocean-bloom-prequel-film-a7969766.html\" target=\"_blank\">will feature<\/a> &#8220;never-before-filmed species,&#8221; like the hairy-chested Hoff crab (named after David Hasselhoff). It&#8217;s set to a version of &#8220;Bloom&#8221; Radiohead&#8217;s <i> The King of Limbs<\/i>.
