You may recall the patch as a reaction to the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.computerworld.com\/article\/3268750\/microsoft-windows\/surprise-theres-a-new-version-of-this-months-buggy-win7-monthly-rollup-kb-4093118.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Carnak the Magnificent situation<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> we had with the original version of KB 4093118.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the re-release earlier this week of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.computerworld.com\/article\/3269043\/microsoft-windows\/patches-for-win10-1703-and-1607-and-a-brain-twisting-update-to-the-win7-ip-bug-fix.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">original Carnak patch, KB 4099950<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, it\u2019s not clear to me what the recommended installation sequence might be. But this much I know for sure. People all over the internet are complaining that this new version of KB 4093118 installs itself over and over again.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An anonymous poster <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.askwoody.com\/forums\/topic\/microsoft-releases-major-update-to-win10-1703-and-the-usual-monthly-previews-for-win7-and-8-1\/#post-185509\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on AskWoody says<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">KB 4093118 has been installed 7 times on my computer and it still wants to install the same update again<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the Microsoft Answers forum, JohnPaulson1 says:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I keep downloading and installing this update 2018-04 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB4093118)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Installation date: \u200e4\/\u200e18\/\u200e2018 15:16<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Installation status: Successful<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And after i do it it keeps appearing when I check for updates <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On a different Microsoft Answers forum thread, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/answers.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windows\/forum\/windows_7-update\/kb4093118-pc-keep-restarting\/48d50ea9-ff6d-4744-b4eb-2702e3edda57?auth=1\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Peter Va\u0161ko reports<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I cannot install monthly rollup security update KB4093118 on computers with 32bit windows 7\u2026 Installation always ends up with computers restarting right after boot. PC starts till &#8216;Wait Please&#8217; message is displayed and then after few seconds it reboots. Only help is &#8216;Safe Mode&#8217;, roll back changes, normal boot.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There\u2019s a slightly different take from Liane12345:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">once you log in and the desktop appears the Computer restarts within 30 seconds<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And A.D. has another observation:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">KB4093118 keeps on reappearing after successful install. Update History shows several instances of this KB.
