You can create passkeys for your Microsoft account, and you can choose your face, fingerprint, PIN, or a security key to secure it.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-set-up-a-passkey\">How to set up a passkey<\/h2>\n<p>To create a passkey for your Microsoft account, follow these steps on the device where you\u2019d like to create a passkey:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/go.microsoft.com\/fwlink\/?linkid=2250685\">Sign in to your Microsoft account<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Navigate to <strong>Security<\/strong> \u00a0&gt; <strong>Advanced Security Options<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"295\" height=\"426\" src=\"https:\/\/www.malwarebytes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/05\/1_advanced_security_options.jpg\" alt=\"Advanced security options for a Microsoft account\" class=\"wp-image-110150\" \/><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>Click on <strong>Get started<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Choose <strong>Add a new way to sign in or verify<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Note: Under certain circumstances, somewhere along the way you may end up in this screen which basically offers you the same choices in a prompt.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"436\" height=\"409\" src=\"https:\/\/www.malwarebytes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/05\/sign-in_methods.jpg\" alt=\"Add a new way to sign in or verify\" class=\"wp-image-110151\" \/><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>To create a passkey: Select <strong>Face, fingerprint, PIN, or security key<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Follow the instructions on your device.<\/li>\n<li>During this process, you can choose to save the passkey to different devices like your Android, iPad, or iPhone, or a hardware key.<\/li>\n<li>You\u2019ll be presented with a QR code to scan with the selected device.<\/li>\n<li>On the selected device you\u2019ll be asked to authenticate.<\/li>\n<li>When the procedure is successful, you\u2019ll be asked to provide a name for the passkey.
