We have been investing in IoT Security for many years now, both in researching many of the challenges we’re seeing within IoT infrastructure and device security, to developing solutions that protect against threats targeting IoT and IIoT devices. Today we announced an alliance with Mentor that looks to improve the security of connected vehicles by combining the Trend Micro IoT Security with Mentor’s ConnectedOS™ solution. This allows Mentor to add security into their development cycle thereby embedding protection into their product offering. Mentor Automotive ConnectedOS™ is deployed in many in-vehicle infotainment systems (IVI) and driver information systems (Cluster) for a variety of automotive manufacturers. We have been stating that security needs to be part of the development lifecycle for IoT manufactures for some time now, and we’re very happy to see Mentor be one of the first to adopt this process.

The key functions of Trend Micro IoT Security are:

Risk detection

    • Identify risks using anomaly detection
    • File integrity verification
    • Vulnerability detection

System protection

    • Access control
    • Intrusion detection
    • Virtual patching

Security visibility

    • Security dashboard and management console

This is the first of many future alliances we predict will occur as more organizations realize the need to embed security into their IoT device lifecycle.
